Throwing stones at Glass Books
Thanks to everyone for all your comments – I’m delighted to see that this is sparking some debate.
Just to answer some of your points:
This is a really different book to anything Penguin has published previously. It’s sexy, adventurous, thrilling and unusual, packed full of Dickensian cliff-hangers, and we wanted to capture and share that in how our first readers enjoy the book. Yes, the subscription costs more than January’s hardback will, and yes, I’m sure that you can track down the American version if you were so minded, but this is a wonderful, unique way to read this book.
It’s a limited edition offer purely for the UK readership, with each unique beautifully bound paperback delivered to you personally each week. I originally read this at the same time as a colleague, and every morning I was so excited to find where they had got to and what their thoughts were. So. You can wait until January – or, you can sign up for these instalments and have a totally different reading experience and a very merry Christmas indeed.
Also, just to add that the character sketches featured on the site are not extracts from the book, but are added extra material that came with the manuscript – utterly secret peeks into the world moments before The Glass Books begins. So will you join us?

Sexy, adventurous and thrilling? What more could we ask for?!
Ah, but I'm not in the UK (*pout*) and therefore won't be able to join in the fun.

Hi there,
Somone just posted a message on my blog (http://thesuspensionbridge.blogspot.com/ ) saying that there is an entry for Glass Books on Wikipedia.
Follow this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass_books , or do a search for 'Glass Books'. The more I read, the more I'm liking the sound of this book.

Have signed up for this as soon as I saw it. I was linked to it through another blog and could not resist. Cannot get the website up on my computer at home and efforts to download Adobe not successful, but can manage it at work. Cannot wait for the first instalment - when will that be?

I've posted about this on http://www.thebookbar.com - I think it looks great. Visually interesting, mysterious sounding characters and plenty of cliffhangers to get one through the start of Winter, and a masked ball. Fab. Have signed up.

I've signed up to and think Penguin have hit the right button with this one. So many of us have tried to read the Victorian novels in serial form to recapture that feeling of suspense and I am a serial cheater. Can imagine us all coshing the postman to get our hands on the next issue as the tension mounts.
