News of a hot new project fresh from the minds that brought you My Penguin: a blessing for all those wanting to truly personalise their favourite books. My Ending is perfect for all of us who didn't like the ending the author gave us, and think we can do better. Like the blank-jacketed My Penguins, My Endings will be published with a blank final chapter (or key scene near the end of the book) with space to write your own, and will feature titles as diverse as Anna Karenina, Jane Eyre, Great Expectations, Jude the Obscure, The Iliad, and Romeo & Juliet. Will Rochester and Jane be happy (and whole) together? Will Hektor live to a ripe old age? Will Anna be saved by a train delay? Or perhaps you prefer to leave the last chapter entirely blank. Who knows. The decision of My Ending... is yours.

The trouble with this idea is that it isn't an obvious April Fool, if that's what it's meant to be. The idea isn't any dozier than lots of people writing a wiki-novel, and not much more so than DIY covers. A typical Penguin Blog idea, I'd say.

What if we don't like the ending, but cannot do any better? This idea is not sensitive to the needs of the 21st centruy reader.
