Good question(s), difficult to answer as an adult, however...

When I was a child, while I was reading them, I was very sad to learn the Narnia books were not ongoing. I did not want to read The Last Battle as I enjoyed the world and the characters so much.

I wanted that story to go on forever.

Narnia was also a world I very much wanted to live in.

Unfortunately, when I eventually read that final book, I really wished Mr. Lewis had stopped earlier. The ending depressed me [then] enormously.

With age and understanding of Mr Lewis' character and beliefs, I can appreciate it differently now. However I have just begun reading the series to my own small children and I am not looking forward to their reactions when the series ends for them (if it turns out that they too mirror my own youthful impressions.)

Undoubtedly, I'd choose "I Capture The Castle". It's years since I read it, but still I come up with quotes from it. I have made my house like the castle, complete with drying rack & gargoyle. Sometimes I still do the rite and hope for an elemental. If I found a pub called 'The Crossed Keys' I would hold my green creme de menth against my dyed red hair to show off the contrast. Though I am more of a Casandra than a Rose.
One day I'll get a Miss Blossom, & maybe a castle, but neither Simon or Neil would quite suit.I'd just be happy with the bluebells & the bluebell scent, where the furs are stored.
